I'm as apt to screw things up as I am to make it better. I don't have a ton of problems with noise and if I do, my LR skills are adequate enough to address it. I bought the Topaz bundle last black friday, so I have both. I'm probably listening to Davide of MIMIC Didn't Adobe buy a highly rated independent denoiser a few years ago? I suppose it has been integrated into LR and PS.Ĭanon R5 and R7, Canon 90D, assorted Canon lenses, Sony RX100 So there is definitely room for improvement! When I get to an important image that has too much noise, I will have to experiment with the different ways to reduce it. When it is a problem, I am often not happy with the result after postprocessing. So far in my shooting, noise has not been a big problem most of the time. Noise is physical, but in the end is a perception, and is also affected by the sharpness and contrast of the image.
Topaz sharpen ai vs nik sharpener pro#
For sharpening I use either Nik's Sharpener Pro 3(Free) or a plugin from Redfield which I can selectively apply in Photoshop. While nothing compared to today's standards, I can get clean images shot at iso 12800 using Topaz. Plus I'm using an older camera, a 1D markIV so noise is more of an issue for me than someone with a newer camera. Adobe has good noise reduction but nowhere close in comparison to Topaz in removing noise and retaining detail. Any average noise reduction software will be adequate. If you never shoot high iso (8000+) images you won't need Denoise.
